Brico
Shortened from the word bricoleur, a french term, which refers to a person who draws from a diverse range of means to create something new, Brico is a bricolage of my own experiences, drawing from my travels around the world.

We have to take the bus everywhere!! It took 4 hours to register. I feel as if I should drag this sentence on just to relay the longevity of the situation, but I can’t relay an experience lasting four hours. Nobody would read this blog (not that anyone, but my parents do ha!) Nobody knows what we are going through. Its actually incredible that we can make it through this without going insane. We spent yesterday trying to find a way to register, but because they emailed us our login names and we don’t have internet yet we couldn’t log on. They kept telling us to go outside and walk around. It was clubs day so we were kept entertained, but there was a lot of waiting around, only to be told that we couldn’t register until the next day. Psychology majors are screwed because they won’t open classes even though we had to transfer. Many people can’t get the right classes they need. Everyone is on the verge of tears and emotions are running high. This is extremely frustrating, but it “builds character”…seriously. We have to deal with adversity if that’s what you call it. After registration, Lauren and I walked to find a Westpac bank to sign up because the fees for withdrawing money are adding up. But there are no appointments available until Monday.
On the flip side, I really like the city. There is a park right next to campus, lots of hills to keep in shape. Lauren and I went exploring and used some coupons given to us at club day for Burger King… classy I know, and then met some people as we walked by a bar. They invited us to another bar on top of a hostel. This was about 3pm and they were about to start a beer pong tournament so we went to check it out. We decided to save the drinking for later and only hung out for a half hour or so. Laura the girl we met is from Nottingham and works as a promoter. I asked the guy if there were any jobs where he worked. He said yes, but I probably wouldn’t want to work there because it’s a strip club. I said I didn’t mind…just jokesJ He had tattoos and really weird metallic piercings on his chest. They invited us to a pub-crawl tonight so I’m going to head off pretty soon.
Last night we caught the last bus out from our apartments, which aren’t really apartments. They look modern on the outside and cabinesk on the inside… as if I’m just at a summer camp.We managed to find the bar, Fat Camel, after wandering around and asking for directions. You get a wrist band and a drink voucher. I ended up winning a bus tour to Waihike Island in a cock ring competition. This crazy loud guy with a fro turned on the vibrating cock rings, put them in a cup and then turned them over on the table in a painted circle. The first to get out of the circle was the winner. I won the first round and made it to the finalist round and won that too! My competition name was El Tigre (credited to Katie). Kelli was in a scavanger competition where she had to get the right shoe of someone and switch it with her own, get a bra and then get boxers. She couldn’t get anyone to take their boxers off, but thank God because the next task was to drink a beer through the boxers… Hella gross.
Back at the apartments we started prank wars with the guys next door. After we got back from the pub crawl Lauren and I started to turn all their furniture upside down, but Gus woke up and then locked us out.
Signed up for Canoe Club and Tramping Club. Tomorrow morning we are going on the first rafting trip. We need to bring togs (swimsuit) and beer. I wanted to sign up for Scuba Club, but it costs $450 to get certified and $70 per trip. I wish I would have saved my money from fishing because there is so much to do here and it costs money.
